barney?

yu xi's birthday is coming soon. i know she likes barney but mommy here don't like. i give instructions to everyone who will possibly get her a birthday present not to buy barney for her.

 

am i being unfair and evil to her? yu ze gets to get his favourite thomas but i'm not giving yu xi her favourite barney. she already needs her tutu, 2 bolsters with blue Winnie the pooh design only and a barney DVD to sleep. do i seriously and really want to get her barney to add on to her bedtime need?

 

i'm still not very convinced to get her a barney though it will be her best and favourite present. well, i shall think about it again since i still have a bit of time.

booster jab

today is our anniversary. we didn't have any plan for it. we going to bring the 2 for their booster jab for pneumococcal at kk in the afternoon. pick them up from school and head down to kk. 

yu xi is ‎23 months old, 10.8kg and 80.9cm at her 25-50 percentile range. yu ze is 43 months old, 12.4kg and 90cm. he is still growing at his usual 3 percentile rate. pd says both are well and ok. as long as they are active, eating well, i shouldn't be bother by their size. most important is their health which i agree 100%. ok. if i want to 'fatten' yu ze up then give more proteins and fats. his output could be higher than input so not putting on weight.

yu ze cry when jab and keep whining pain pain after that. took a while to stop and we bought him 'duck' (thomas's friend) to compensate his 'pain'.

yu xi also cry but stop almost immediately cos the nurse give her a pack of biscuit. this is how she works, immediately forget about the pain once there is food.

pet-te-nal

i never understand why and what make him thinks a caterpillar is call 'pet-te-nal' instead of caterpillar. no matter how i correct him, he still called it 'pet-te-nal'. finally, he stops calling it, 'pet-te-nal' and change it to caterpillar. i teased him to ensure its not a by chance and he really mean caterpillar.

me: yu ze, what is this? (pointing to leapfrog caterpillar)

yu ze: caterpillar.

me: no, its 'pet-te-nal'

yu ze: caterpillar

me: no, its 'pet-te-nal' not caterpillar

yu ze: no, its caterpillar.

now that he realise his mistake for caterpillar, next animal will be horse. he keeps calling them zebra instead of horse though they belongs to same family and looks the same.

spongebob continues....

this is a continuation of what happens to spongebob yesterday. as usual, they were watching okto and the music of spongebob is on. yu ze heard and shouted for me.

 

yu ze: mommy, quick quick. spongebob, naughty boy. quickly change, change.

me: ok ok. (change the show to 步步惊心.)

 

hahaha.... i seriously hope this will last.

spongebob

i must admit the person with problem is me. just me. :P

i don't like spongebob square pants. of all the cartoons, i think this is a stupid one. even though i don't have good impression of barney too, barney is still better than spongebob. at least the songs in barney are nice and the shows has educational values in it. 

in order to stop yu ze from watching spongebob, i told him this. 

me: spongebob is for naughty boy. are you a naughty boy?
yu ze: no
me: can we off or change another one? spongebob is for naughty boy so cannot watch. 

think for a while and he walked to me, 'mommy, spongebob for naughty boy. changed'

not sure if i manage to convinced him but its a good start. :)

puzzle

yesterday, he wants to play puzzle train. i have this abc long puzzle train. so i get him to fix it up himself. I help him by starting with the train head and letter a. .

me: yu ze, help mommy find the balloon, where is b for balloon. (pic for that piece is balloon).
yu ze: here and pick up the piece
me: ok, clever boy. yu ze fix it here (pointing to the part).

then he fix it up and i continue in this way all the z. some alphabet, i name them by the alphabet name, some I go by the pic that represent it.

he is having so much fun. he wants to continue with the next train which is on numbers. he did that half way and wants to give up cos i ask darling to help him with that train while i settle yu xi. darling make him count and count till yu ze give up. hahahaha....

答非所问

since both of them take school bus to school, we hardly goes to school or met up with teachers. the only meeting we had will be the parent-teacher meeting every end term.

 

i received a call from teacher with regards to yu ze's 'problem - 答非所问' and can't hold a conversation. she wants us to help reinforce it at home.

 

some examples given are:

teacher: yu ze, what letter is this? (a)

yu ze: i want to eat apple.

 

teacher is discussing about food/other things with class and ask questions. yu ze will answer non-related answer or talk about trains/planes.

 

teacher trying to hold a conversation with yu ze on a topic. after a sentence or two, he will go out of point and talk about any other things but mainly on his thomas and train tracks.

 

sigh.... how to guide him in this?
