grandparent's day concert

its year end. their childcare is having their usual grandparent's day concert for the kids again. yu xi has her very first concert performance this year cos she missed hers last year with her fever. i was very sad then. looking so forward to their performance. i think i'm more excited than them.

 

like yu ze, i keep preparing them about the concert. keep telling her not to cry, not to wave or shout at mommy even though she sees me. i will wait for her after the concert ends, so she don't have to cry.

 

as a first timer on stage, maybe cos she is older now. i must say she does a good job. i still remember how yu ze cried at his very first concert. of course, yu ze then was a year younger then yu xi now. its was a good experience and good exposure for them.

sports fiesta

after many months and practice, we have finally waited for the day to come. we dropped him off at toa payoh sports hall with his teacher and waited inside the annual k1 sports day to start.

the whole event lasted for almost 4 hours with lots of activities. the highlight of the event is definitely the marching band by the little ones. i'm so excited and proud to see him in action. 

 

he is very pleased and happy with his own performance too. he still keep talking about it and tell me he wants more marching band. hahaha.... sorry, my dear son. its only once in your preschool life that you get to be involved in this marching band.

lantern making

school send us a note to work with our kids in making a lantern with recycle materials for school competition. i check the web for ideas on how to make a simple one and also makes me very busy. though its supposed to be made with recycle materials, i end up having to get brushes, paint, ice cream sticks, strings to make.

 

this making takes us 3 days to complete. hmmmm....... should i say it takes me 3 days and 2 days for the kids. i get them to paint on the plastic bag that i had from made with love (the only recycle material that i have and i don't need to spend to get it). they can paint anything they want. i lay out the newspaper on the floor and get them to start painting after dinner.

 

yu xi is painting her usual abstract art. yu ze did his vroom vroom car, sun, rainbow and birds.

 

 

next, we glue the ice cream sticks together to form a square. each lantern will required 5 squares before i can put them together. next day, i glue the plastic sheets to the ice cream sticks square and leave it to dry overnight. 

 

finally, its time to put all together. however the plastic sheets didn't stick well to the ice cream sticks. i re-stick then with the glue tape before i assemble them together. to prevent it from falling apart, i tape the wash tape around the rim to secure it and as a decoration too. here's the final product.

 

its the time of the year again

we are into the 3rd parent's teacher meeting of the year. nothing extraordinary to expect from their teachers. yu xi is still the everything also very good student. yu ze gets a little complain this time. he is not as participative, cooperative as last term. he is also eating lesser in school. no wonder, he is eating a lot more at home now.

 

when i reached home, i sit down and asked him what happen in school? he manage to tell me his views with regards to his feedback.

 

1. he didn't keep the toys cos he doesn't know where to keep them. he keep wrongly, teacher will scold him. (i think this is not very true but seems he feel this way, must tell him what is the right way to do it.) my solution for him is to ask teacher on where to keep the toys. don't know he must ask and helped to keep them.

 

2. he don't want to eat in school cos the food is yucky. he don't want the corn in the soup. don't want the vegetable rice ball and don't want the black pau. (this seems very true cos its all the food that he don't eat at home too.) solution for him, tell teacher to put corn in his rice and not the soup. as for the vegetable rice ball and black pau, i have not answer to it so i skip it. hahahaha.......

 

i didn't go into details of why isn't he participating in class. as a student, i don't like to participate in class too. i guess this might have come from me.

 

while i was busying talking to yu ze on his 'issues', yu xi was also busy trying to show me her portfolio and all her work.  

leave the car behind

as usual, i have to pick up the kids from school. before i head out to pick them, i went to pack their sushi dinner. upon reaching the carpark, i have this feeling of cramp is coming to get me on my right leg. as i drove out, i just keep thinking to myself, i'm not so suay, i will be able to survive the drive to school and home with the kids.

 

however, as i drive i don't feel as confident. i turn out at toa payoh and parked below jiali's flat. called her down and chit chat a while hoping that the feeling will go away. decided to continue with my journey at 6pm. but, the feeling come back very fast., i have to re-park my car again. called darling and tell him about it. decide to leave the car at jiali's place while i take cab to fetch the kids. he will come and pick up the car later.

 

yu xi started crying the moment she saw me and say in her sobbing voice, mommy you are too slow. yah yah, i'm very late in picking them today. when i told them to hurry up cos uncle taxi is waiting. they keep asking me what happen to the car. i just have to tell them papa took the car and so we have to take cab. 

 

the feeling of cramp didn't go away at all and if 'spread' towards the toes. after bathing, i put on my socks to keep my feet warm. maybe its the air con that causes this cramp feeling. i must try to bear with the heat and not to sleep in air con room too often.

mother's day

i asked both of them on last friday if they have presents for me. they looked at me and say no, no present. i was a bit disappointed, why no mother's day present for me this year. though i know they are going to celebrate it today (a day after mother's day).

 

i dropped them off at school and i went for breakfast before coming back for the celebration. since celebration time is the same in class, i went to yu ze's class upon teacher's request. we are supposed to help dress up 2 mommy of the class using recycle materials. we were given 30 minutes to dress the mommy up before they 'catwalk' in the hall later with other mommies from other classes.

 

 

the kids are brought to the hall to watch all the lovely mommies in their lovely dress and do their catwalk. the kids also presented to their mommies the mother's day gift they made before they returned to their class. i almost tear when they handled me the gift.

the most dreadful moment comes when all the mommies have to leave for work or home. the kids will start crying especially the younger ones and some older ones like yu ze. mei mei only started crying when she reached her classroom door. its only then she realised that she is not going back with me but back to class. hahaha..... she is always very slow in this aspect. i have no choice but to leave both of them with teacher and walk off without turning back.

babyu

 

we went for a photoshoot with babyu international this evening. its complimentary shoot from lilian song. i almost forgot to make appointment for it till a few days before its expiry. lucky, i managed to get it extended till today. it was a pretty short photoshoot. we top up an extra concept for yu xi and also for all soft copies of the photos. in less than 30 minutes, we manage to capture about 100 photos. photos will only be ready for collection in about 2 weeks time.

how to squeeze a hello kitty land and the litte big club trip in?

if possible, still need to squeeze another lego land trip. this can delay a bit since most of the rides have a min height requirement of 100cm. yu ze still a long way to that so we can hold this back a little more.

this dec is going to be fun, exciting and busy for all of us.

they have deepavali celebration in schoool. yu ze came back with henna on his hand.

 

me: yu ze, what was that?

yu ze: flower. i don't like this. this is smelly, yu ze don't like. chocolate (the paint) is for eating not drawing.

 

i like how school plans such activity for the kids to expose them to different types of religion and festive celebrations we have in singapore.

yu ze came back with a tiger bites on his chest.

 

me: yu ze, what happen?

yu ze: mei mei, bite me. she just bite then i pull away and painful.

me: why mei mei bite you?

yu ze: she just bite and bite and never let go. then i arhh..... like that

 

i turn to yu xi.

 

me: mei mei, why you bite gor gor?

yu xi: no. no bite. cannot bite.

 

i can't get any answer out from my kids so i text yu ze's teacher. she had left the school when this happened. however, she managed to find out what happen from another teacher. apparently, they were sitting together watching tv and talking among themselves. the teacher can't hear what's their conversation is about. then yu xi just becomes unhappy and attack gor gor. poor gor gor.

airport

school is closed today. we went airport to see airplanes and let the kids run wild. 

 

yu ze thought we are going to take the plane. he told me must give auntie the bag to go to the box and come out. he meant the convey belts for security check. he was sad when I told him, we are going to see airplanes only not to take airplanes.

the 'gift'

yu xi fall down at the escalator and had a small cut on her forehead. she was walking up the steps on the escalator but didn’t stand properly and fall forward, cried all the way up to the end of the escalator. I had to go to the pharmacy to buy antiseptic cream and clean up for wound for her. the pharmacist was nice, she helps me to clean up yu xi’s wound and put a cute mickey mouse plaster on. 

 

we took the sky train from t1 to t2 to t3, board and alight the sky train so many times. they enjoyed the sky train rides and not interested in the rest. we went to the viewing mall too to look at the planes too. 

naughty girl

today, yu xi collected her class photo. yu ze asked to see it, she refused to show him. both of them were whining in the car cos one wants to see, one refuse to let the other see. i told them we will go playground after dinner if they stop whining and yu xi to show gor gor the photo.

 

yu xi being naughty: 

• don't want to show gor gor her class photo. she insist that gor gor has already (she meant gor gor has his own class photo)
• don't want to get out of car and blocked gor gor at the door (i only open 1 car door and get them to come out from the same side)
• refuse to carry her own bag (i don't help them carry bags)
• reach home also don't want to show anybody (including me and papa) her class photo
• cry for no reason
• after dinner, i ask yu ze to wear shoes cos we are going to playground. i turn to mei mei and told her for all the naughty things, she can't go playground. she started crying.

 

yu ze heard and quickly came to me.

 

yu ze: mommy, mei mei is a good girl. she finished her dinner. stop crying and share. she can go playground.

me: but mei mei didn't share her photo with you

yu ze: have. she good girl, she can go.

 

since yu ze insists, we bring her to the playground too.

which is a better route?

i take over the car and started sending them to school and myself to work. from yio chu kang road to marine parade can be a long distance. which way is cheap and good? 

 

route a - 26 km (25 mins)
yio chu kang road => cte (sle) => tpe => kpe => ecp => marine parade

route b - 17 km + $2 erp (18 mins)
yio chu kang road => cte (town) => pie => eunos => still road => marine parade

route c - 15.6 km + $2 erp (23 mins)
yio chu kang road => cte (town) => pie => kpe => ecp => marine parade

have discuss with darling, my boss and shared with friends. we had come to a conclusion that route a should be a better option. with route a, i would have travel on all the expressway daily. 

 

there is only 1 way to go to fetch them, kpe, pie, cte, yio chu kang road.

last day

today is the last day for them to take school bus to school. i bought a box of chocolate each for the bus uncle and aunties.  we had been using their service for 2.5 years. they have been very nice to the kids.

 

i think I'm having withdrawal symptom from this. i'm feeling sad. prepared the kids for today since last week, they don't seems to have any reaction to it. maybe having mommy to send them to school is a better choice for them. they can't wait for this day to come.

 

next week onwards, mommy has a new job role, personal taxi driver.

答非所问

since both of them take school bus to school, we hardly goes to school or met up with teachers. the only meeting we had will be the parent-teacher meeting every end term.

 

i received a call from teacher with regards to yu ze's 'problem - 答非所问' and can't hold a conversation. she wants us to help reinforce it at home.

 

some examples given are:

teacher: yu ze, what letter is this? (a)

yu ze: i want to eat apple.

 

teacher is discussing about food/other things with class and ask questions. yu ze will answer non-related answer or talk about trains/planes.

 

teacher trying to hold a conversation with yu ze on a topic. after a sentence or two, he will go out of point and talk about any other things but mainly on his thomas and train tracks.

 

sigh.... how to guide him in this?

new uniform

a brand new year and a brand new day for yu ze. he is in nursery this year and needs to start wearing proper uniform (like primary school type, not t-shirt and shorts).

 

i took out the uniform for him to change, he refuse to wear them to school. he says that one (uniform) cannot, will drop. i packed his uniform in his bag and inform his teacher to change for him and 'educate' him. he went to school in his usual t-shirt and shorts set.

 

after dinner, i pick up another set of this uniform to show him.

me: yu ze, you got wear this today?
yu ze: finished already (means he wore the uniform). mummy, i got new school. must wear this one.
me: no, not new school. its new uniform.
yu ze: no, new school....
me: you want to wear this tomorrow?
yu ze: yes.

the day after, he needs to t-shirt and shorts uniform. how? hope he won't argue with me every morning over which set of uniform to wear.

again....

yu xi cries again this morning when we reach school but its not cos of school. she cries cos yu ze don't want to hold her hand. she extends her hand for gor gor's to hold, gor gor refused. at the moment, gor gor is her security but her security is rejecting her. hahaha…… 

 

how she is going to handle it when gor gor is going back to his class and she is going to stay alone in her class.

5th day in school

when i told yu xi that we are going to school, she went to pull papa and say she wants to go sleep sleep. went to bed to pretend to sleep, so i change her on the bed. when we are all ready to leave, i call out, let's go. she appears and say go. when we reach school, she wants papa to carry thinking she can escape. i carry her over to measure temp, check hand and she walk back to class whinning cos yu ze refuse to hold her hand. starts crying when the classroom door but still say bye bye to me and walks towards her teacher.

4th day of school

yu xi cries super badly today. hold on to darling tightly and refuse to let go. i have to 'snatch' her over and hand over to her teacher. darling is so heart break to see her girl cry like that.

reality sets in

reality sets in today. yu xi realise she has to go school daily. she crys when i drop her off and say don't want school. she holds my hand and walked towards the class together. she started crying again once the classroom door open. 

too bad, my girl. you have to go school no matter what. you can’t get away from this. :P
